IVIT CERTIFICATION COURSE INFORMATION

Course Description: The IVIT Certification Course is designed to ensure Naturopathic Doctors have the competency to both safely and effectively compound sterile products for intravenous administration, obtain vascular access, and administer intravenous infusion therapeutics to patients under their care. Both lecture-style and hands-on practice in vascular access and sterile compounding are included. To pass this course, participants must attend all 5 course dates in person, in full; successfully complete 10 vascular insertions; successfully complete osmolarity exercises. To become IVIT-Certified, you must pass this course AND CONO’s IVIT Exam.

Spring 2020 Course Dates: Friday April 24, Saturday April 25, Sunday April 26, Saturday May 2, Sunday May 3. 9 am to 5 pm each day.

Spring 2020 Cost and Registration: Registration Closes April 8, 2020.

Fall 2020 Course Dates: Friday November 20, Saturday November 21, Sunday November 22, Saturday November 28, Sunday November 29. 9 am to 5 pm each day.

Course Format: No part of this course will be offered by webinar, recordings, or any type of distance education – all 5 days must be attended in-person, in full. The course will include both lecture-style and hands-on components.

Course Materials: Attendees will receive a printed course binder on the first day of the course with all Powerpoint slides for the entire course. All other material will be made available electronically shortly before the first course date, with unlimited, lifetime access.

IVIT REFRESHER COURSES INFORMATION

Our popular IVIT Refresher Courses are back! These three, one-day courses are designed for two groups. One, Naturopathic Doctors who are already IVIT-certified and wish to refresh their knowledge and get IVIT CE credits. Second, Naturopathic Doctors who have taken a previous IVIT Certification Course and wish to prepare for the exam. Each refresher course date is one day of the full CONO-approved 5-day IVIT Certification Course, and will ensure that IVIT-certified Naturopathic Doctors have fully refreshed their skills in specific areas, as they relate specifically to the practice of IVIT in Ontario. Each day includes both lecture-style and hands-on components. Check out the content, and pick the date that best suits your ‘refresher’ needs!

Hands-On Participation: Participation in the hands-on component of vascular access is mandatory, while participation in the hands-on component of sterile compounding is optional. 

Instructor Bios:

Dr. Eric Marsden (BSc, ND) is the author and co-instructor of the OAND’s IVIT Certification Course, including recent CONO-approved course revisions to comply with the Naturopathy Act, 2007. Eric obtained his undergraduate degree in Human Biology at the University of Toronto and completed his graduate studies in Naturopathic Medicine at the CCNM. Eric Marsden holds numerous post graduate certifications including: Chelation Therapy and Toxic Metal Detoxification, Advanced Darkfield Microscope Technician, a certified Homotoxicologist, etc. He has also received extensive training in integrative cancer therapies from several distinguished clinics and teaching institutions in Germany.

Eric Marsden is a leader in the field of naturopathic medicine and has sat on various boards of directors of naturopathic organizations and associations. Recently, he has been part of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) Government Affairs committee working on improvements to regulations covering naturopathic medicine.

Currently, Eric Marsden is the clinic director for The Marsden Centre of Naturopathic Excellence and co-founder and President of BMS Resources (the professional Dispensary and bookstore for CCNM). Eric Marsden has received several awards for clinical excellence including most recently the OAND’s Chair’s award for outstanding contribution to the naturopathic profession. He has appeared on television (CBC Marketplace and 2nd Opinion) and has been quoted extensively in print (Now, Toronto Star, Readers Digest, etc.). Dr. Marsden, ND is an international lecturer on topics of environmental medicine and integrative oncology.

Dr. Ruth Anne Baron, ND is a Naturopathic Doctor practicing in Toronto since 1994. She is the past Chair of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors. Dr. Baron also serves on the University Hospitals Health Network Research Ethics Board.

Ruth Anne appears regularly on television and radio and lectures throughout Canada to pharmacists, health providers and community groups. Dr. Baron feels that each individual’s daily choices are the most important factor in creating well being, and so places a strong emphasis on educating patients about healthy choices that promote wellness in their lives.

Her practice provides patients with all aspects of naturopathic treatment, including botanical medicine, nutrition, acupuncture and homeopathy.
Ruth Anne is a certified practitioner of both intravenous therapy and facial rejuvenation acupuncture. She is a member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and has a special interest in natural treatments for cancer patients. Ruth Anne has been recognized by her peers in the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors as naturopathic doctor of the year, and is the recipient of the OAND President’s award for outstanding achievement in naturopathic medicine.

IVIT FAQ

Q: How long do I have after I take the IVIT Certification course to write the IVIT exam?

A: As per CONO’s policy: “Candidates are provided three (3) attempts to successfully complete the IVIT examination and must do so within two (2) years of the date of their successful completion of the IVIT training course.”

Q: Does successful IVIT Certification Course registration mean that I am automatically registered for the IVIT exam?

A: No. The OAND runs the course, CONO runs the exam. You must register and pay for the exam through CONO.
