Excellence in Naturopathic Medicine Award
Dr. Rita Patel, ND

Rita Patel is a Naturopathic Doctor who colleagues describe as an exceptionally versatile and innovative clinical thinker and someone who can hold multiple therapeutic frameworks in mind simultaneously and integrate them into a single, well-structured care plan without losing sight of the individual in front of her. With 22 years of practice in Toronto, Dr. Patel is particularly recognized for her work with complex and autoimmune presentations, combining evidence-informed nutritional approaches, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and homeopathic therapies to achieve meaningful results for patients who had not responded to previous care. Praised above all for her clinical reasoning which is broad in scope, practical in application, and always patient-centred. Her commitment to continuous learning, collaborative care, and long-term health outcomes has made a lasting impression on those who have worked alongside her.

Emerging Leader Award
Dr. Harsimranjeet Singh Bhatia, ND

In ten years of practice, Harsimranjeet Singh Bhatia has done what many NDs spend a career working toward: he has earned naturopathic medicine a seat at the table inside one of the country's major hospital systems. An expert in integrative fertility care, Dr. Singh Bhatia has built collaborative relationships with fertility clinics across Ontario, presented alongside physicians at endometriosis patient education events, and created a natural health product quality handout for Ottawa medical colleagues. This past year, he delivered grand rounds to the Ottawa Hospital's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Newborn Care, presenting to over 50 physicians, receiving a perfect 5-out-of-5 formal evaluation across every category. One attending physician noted the session did more for the ND/MD relationship in Ottawa than anything they had seen before. As his nominators put it, Dr. Singh Bhatia doesn't just open doors, he holds them open for the next ND who walks through.
