Stress is an epidemic in the western world and a major contributing factor either directly or indirectly to coronary artery disease, cancer, respiratory disorders, accidental injuries, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. Stress aggravates many other conditions and contributes substantially to the costs of health care systems.
Stress is an important issue and the care Naturopathic Doctors provide is fundamental to addressing this epidemic. Naturopathic Doctors focus on finding the root cause of illness – going beyond symptomatology and taking the time needed to support patients in making the changes necessary to reduce stress in their lives.
The 2012 OAND Convention will be held November 16-18th at the International Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The OAND Convention is Canada’s largest annual naturopathic medicine event. The topic of this year’s convention is The Stress Epidemic: New Connections between Etiologies and Disease.
